Manipur: Security Forces Arrest Four Insurgent Cadres

IMPHAL, March 18: In a series of successful operations conducted on March 17, security forces in Manipur arrested four active cadres belonging to various insurgent groups. The operations led to the seizure of several incriminating items, including weapons and mobile phones.

On March 17, an active cadre of the proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA), identified as Lourembam Brojen Singh alias Dyson (50), was arrested from Langol Game Village Zone III near Mary Kom Regional Boxing Foundation in Imphal West District. Authorities seized two mobile handsets, a two-wheeler, and an Aadhaar card.

On the same day, Manipur Police apprehended Athokpam Romiyo Singh alias Ngamba (44), a former RPF/PLA member who had joined the PREPAK/UPPK faction. Singh was involved in extortion activities targeting local populations, government employees, and shopkeepers. Seized items included two mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, and Airtel SIM cards.

In another operation, Laishram Tomba Singh (33) was arrested from Haoreibi Mayai Leikai in Imphal West District. Singh, who was also involved in extortion, was found in possession of a mobile phone. Additionally, Khundrakpam Michael Singh (33) was arrested from Ningthoukhong Kha Keirungbam Leikai in Bishnupur District. Upon interrogation, he led authorities to the recovery of several weapons, including a 9mm pistol, ammunition, and live rounds of various calibers. Seized items also included a mobile phone, two SIM cards, and an Aadhaar card.
