IMPHAL, March 20: Manipur Police executed a series of successful operations on March 19, leading to the arrest of seven insurgents linked to various militant organizations. The operation also resulted in the seizure of a significant cache of weapons and ammunition.
In Bishnupur District, authorities arrested three individuals, including Khumukcham Ibomcha Singh, a 47-year-old active member of KCP (City Meitei), who is also known as Thabungton. He was apprehended along with Yumnam Premkumar Singh (42) and Yumnam Anandkumar Singh (36), both originally from Thingkangphai Village in Churachandpur. During the operation, police recovered an M-20 pistol with a magazine, ammunition of various calibers, and communication equipment, including three Baofeng wireless sets.

In another operation in Bishnupur District, Salam Brojen Singh (47), a member of the Socialist Revolutionary Party (SOREPA), Kangleipak, was arrested. Singh, formerly associated with KCP (Taibanganba), was captured in the Sandangkhong area under Kumbi Police Station. He was reportedly involved in extorting and intimidating government officials. Authorities seized eight demand letters from SOREPA and a list containing the names of 38 schools in the district during the arrest.
The most significant operation took place near Border Pillar 76 in Tengnoupal District, where security forces arrested two militants: Laishram Tomba Singh (27) from PREPAK (Pro) and Yumnam Roshan Meitei (33) from KYKL. The operation resulted in the recovery of a substantial weapons cache, including a Light Machine Gun, an AK-56 rifle, over 300 rounds of ammunition, communication equipment, and military gear.
