IMPHAL, Feb 8: In a significant operation on February 7, security forces in Manipur arrested two individuals for possessing 20 Khaini cases of suspected opium in Kangpokpi district. Acting on specific intelligence, the authorities seized a total of 642.09 grams of the substance, along with the weight of the cases, from Lanka village in the hill range of the district.
The arrested individuals were identified as Maniraj (35) and Yam Bahadur (49), both from Bajagra village, 25 Miles IT Road, Kangpokpi.

Meanwhile, security forces also conducted extensive search operations in Bishnupur district, leading to the recovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition in the fringe area between Aigejang foothills under Nambol-PS. Among the items seized were one .303 Rifle, one Bolt Action Rifle, two SBBL Guns, one .22 Pistol, one 9mm Pistol, hand grenades, mortar shells, and various types of grenades and ammunition. The operation is part of the ongoing security efforts to monitor and control the vulnerable areas of both hill and valley districts in Manipur.
