Tengnoupal, August 8: Security forces in Manipur have intensified operations along the India–Myanmar border, leading to a major interception of cattle smuggling in Tengnoupal district and arrested three smugglers red-handed on August 6.
The operation was carried out at the Khudengthabi Permanent Vehicle Check Post (PVCP), where a vehicle transporting 13 cattle was intercepted. The accused — identified as Hemminlen Haokip (26), Shuhao Haokip (59), and Henkholal Lhouvum (36) — are all residents of M. Chahnou Village under Moreh Police Station, located near the Myanmar border.
Authorities seized the cattle, valued at approximately ₹8.45 lakh, along with a four-wheeler bearing registration number MN-07C-3345, allegedly used for the smuggling. A preliminary probe revealed that the vehicle’s registration documents were forged.
The arrested individuals, the impounded vehicle, and the seized livestock have been handed over to the local police for further legal action.
