Imphal, July 16: Manipur security forces on Wednesday stopped around 100 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from returning to their native villages in Dolaithabi, located in the Imphal East district.
According to authorities, thevillagers currently residing in a relief camp near Sajiwa, attempted to return to their homes but were intercepted near Pukhao Tezpur, approximately 2.5 km from Dolaithabi. The area falls under a “sensitive fringe zone”, which had witnessed repeated ethnic attacks during the outbreak of violence in May 2023.
Authorities confirmed that one company of CRPF women personnel has been deployed in the area to maintain peace. Meanwhile, the district administration and senior police officers are engaged in dialogue with local community leaders to find a peaceful and secure solution for the displaced families.
The situation is reported to be peaceful and under control, with constant monitoring by top officials to ensure stability.
