Imphal, August 27: In a major counter-insurgency push, Manipur Police carried out two successful operations on August 26, resulting in the arrest of a PREPAK (PRO) militant and the recovery of a cache of weapons in separate districts.
In Imphal East, security forces arrested Nongmaithem Naocha Meetei (26), an active cadre of the proscribed outfit, from Napet Palli under Lamlai Police Station. Meetei, a resident of Yaingangpokpi Makha Leikai, was allegedly engaged in insurgent activities linked to PREPAK (PRO).

Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Jiribam district, security forces recovered a large haul of arms and equipment from Rashidpur area. The seized items included a 7.62mm Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), a 5.56mm INSAS rifle, two pistols, 41 rounds of ammunition, and two rifle magazines.
They also recovered six handheld radio sets with a charger, an ammunition pouch, and jungle shoes—pointing to the group’s preparedness for coordinated militant activity and long-duration operations in remote terrain.
