Manipur: Security Forces Recover Large Cache of Arms and Ammunition During Search Operations

IMPHAL, March 17: Security forces conducted extensive search operations and area domination exercises in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Manipur’s hill and valley districts, leading to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition. The operations were carried out to ensure security and prevent illegal activities in sensitive regions.

During a search operation in the eastern side of the IVR between the foothills and Uyok forest under Nambol Police Station in Bishnupur district, various firearms, including an INSAS rifle, carbine machine guns, a modified sniper rifle with a magnifier scope, an SBBL gun, and a pistol. The search also led to the seizure of hand grenades, live cartridges, an empty magazine, tear gas grenades, anti-riot rubber bullets, a tear smoke shell, a grenade launcher tube, grenade-launching cartridges, and wood-piercing shells.

In another operation at Loitang Sandum Hill range under Sekmai Police Station in Imphal West district, security forces recovered an SLR rifle with a magazine, a pistol with a damaged magazine, hand grenades without detonators, and handheld radio sets.

The successful operations are part of the ongoing efforts by security forces to curb illegal arms possession and maintain peace in the region.
