Manipur Security Forces Seize Huge Cache of Arms and Ammunition in Hill Districts

Imphal, September 19: Security forces comprising Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, Army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition during extensive search operations conducted in the hill districts of Manipur.

The joint operations, carried out over the last few days in Churachandpur, Chandel, and Tengnoupal districts, were launched following specific intelligence inputs about weapons concealed in interior and suspected locations.

The recoveries include 87 weapons, such as M16, MA1, and INSAS rifles, 9mm FGC MK-II rifle, .303 rifles, carbines, pistols, shotguns, lathodes, and pompi guns. In addition, security forces seized five lathode bombs, 57 assorted rounds of ammunition, 23 radio sets, two radio set chargers, and two BPJ plates.

Reaffirming its commitment to ensuring peace and security in the state, Manipur Police urged the public to cooperate with security forces and promptly report any information related to illegal arms to the nearest police station or the Central Control Room.

Senior officials stated that joint operations will continue in a sustained and focused manner to restore normalcy, maintain public order, and safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
