IMPHAL, June 13: In a series of coordinated operations on June 12, security forces in Manipur made significant seizures of narcotics and illegal arms, arresting multiple individuals across several districts.
The most notable arrest occurred at the Mao check post in Senapati district, where Anshu Raj, a 27-year-old from Bhojpur, Bihar, was apprehended with over 2 kg of suspected heroin. The drugs were found during routine frisking of outgoing passenger vehicles.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Tengnoupal district, near Karyam village, a large stash of arms and explosives was recovered from a hideout. The haul included a 9 mm carbine, two 9 mm pistols, live and empty ammunition, ten locally-made IEDs, Motorola communication sets, bulletproof jackets, and several combat supplies. Authorities believe the weapons and explosives were intended for use in insurgent activities in the region.

In Imphal East’s Champhai village, under Sagolmang Police Station, additional weapons were seized, including two 12 Bore Single Barrel Rifles, a .32 pistol, live ammunition for AK-47s, M-16s, and 9 mm pistols, as well as tear smoke shells and a smoke grenade. A camouflage bulletproof cover with iron plates and a Baofeng wireless set were also recovered, suggesting the material was meant for armed groups in the area.
Finally, another cache was uncovered in Thoubal district’s Ikop Pat, where authorities discovered a .303 rifle, a 9 mm pistol, bolt-action and single-barrel rifles, along with various types of live and blank rounds, rubber bullets, and tear smoke shells.
