IMPHAL, March 20: During the five-day-long ‘Yaoshang’ festival, the Traffic Police of Manipur collected a total of Rs 9.94 lakhs in fines from individuals who violated traffic rules. A total of 522 challans were issued during the festival period for road safety violations.
From March 1 to March 18, 2025, the Traffic Police registered a total of 2,023 traffic violation cases across the state, resulting in the collection of Rs 35.94 lakhs in fines from violators.
In light of the festival celebrations, the traffic wing of Manipur Police took extensive safety measures to ensure the safety of both pedestrians and motorists. Special efforts were focused on preventing incidents of drunken driving, triple-riding, underage driving, and dangerous stunts on two-wheelers.
Traffic police personnel were strategically deployed at key intersections and high-risk areas throughout the district to maintain road safety and minimize accidents during the festive period.
