Imphal, October 16: The National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi, in collaboration with the Research and Development Cell of Manipur University and the Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), organized a National Workshop on Leadership Development for deans, heads of departments, and senior faculty members from universities across the North Eastern region.
Held at the VC Court Hall of Manipur University, the workshop was presided over by Prof. Shashikala Wanjari, Vice Chancellor of NIEPA. Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, graced the event as the chief guest, while Prof. Prabhakar Laishram, Director of MIMS, and Prof. Aarti Srivastava, Head of DHPE, attended as guests of honour.
Organized under the guidance of Prof. Ch. Ibohal Meitei, Director of the Research and Development Cell, Manipur University, and Dr. Sangeeta Angom, Programme Coordinator from NIEPA, the workshop aimed to strengthen leadership capacity in higher education institutions.
In her keynote address, Prof. Wanjari underscored the need for inclusive education and quality enhancement, asserting that effective leadership and collaboration are key drivers of institutional excellence.
Chief guest Prof. Lokendra Singh noted that such initiatives are crucial for developing leadership skills, improving academic governance, and fostering inter-departmental cooperation. He also highlighted the importance of senior faculty under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in mentoring students and advancing research and innovation.
The event featured interactive sessions and panel discussions conducted by NIEPA faculty and resource persons from various universities in the North East, providing a valuable platform for sharing insights on academic leadership and institutional growth.
