IMPHAL, Feb 28: Manipur youth congress on Saturday staged a protest against the “dictatorial rule of the BJP” in the country and for immediate release of Indian Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu Chib and other youth Leaders.
The youth congress members also tried to stage a rally from Congress Bhavan till state BJP office, located atleast 1 km, but were stopped at the gates of the congress office by police personnel leading to brief scuffle.
The members also held placards and raised slogans such as “BJP down down” and “Narendra Modi is compromised.” They also brought out an effigy of Modi but were snatched by police personnel.
State youth congress president W Anand Singh told reporters “youth congress has been raising voices against unemployment, for protection of constitutional rights and for poor section of the country and the state for their future. However youth congress has been imprisoned and given threats though we are not frightened.”
“We also strongly against the calling of peaceful protest at recent AI summit as shirtless protest by Modi. It is very unfortunate” he said.
He continue “BJP is more concerned with their party than the sufferings of the people in Manipur. BJP have not raised a single voice for the innocent people which have been killed in the state. To raise our protest against suh rule, we wanted to burn the effigy of prime minister Narendra Modi in front of state BJP office.”
He also said youth congress firmly stands for “justice, rights and democratic values of the the great nation of India.
