Imphal, Sept 19: In a significant achievement for sustainable tourism, Manipur’s Andro village has been selected as one of the Best Tourism Villages in the Heritage category for the 2024 Best Tourism Villages Competition.
Organized by the Ministry of Tourism, this competition honors villages that excel in preserving cultural and natural heritage while promoting community-based values and sustainable practices across economic, social, and environmental aspects.
The announcement was made in a letter from Arun Srivastava, Joint Director General of the Ministry of Tourism, to Devesh Deval, Commissioner of Tourism, Government of Manipur. The recognition will be officially presented during a special ceremony on World Tourism Day on September 27 in New Delhi.
Andro village will be acknowledged for its efforts in preserving cultural traditions while ensuring sustainable development.
This recognition emphasizes Andro village’s successful integration of tourism and heritage conservation, solidifying its place among India’s top heritage tourism destinations.
