SENAPATI, June 5: The Mao Students’ Union (MSU) today observed World Environment Day 2025 at Chiisarü Multi-Purpose Hall under the global theme “Ending Global Plastic Pollution.” The event was held in collaboration with the Mao Range Office, Senapati Forest Division, and the Mao & Tadubi Police Stations.
A total of around 1,500 tree saplings were planted along the stretch from Tadubi to Maopungdong, with active participation from local youth and students.

Koso Chokhoni, Range Forest Officer, Mao Range, Senapati Forest Division, spoke on why planting a tree can grow a future, emphasizing the long-term ecological value of tree planting.
MSU President, Pfokrehrii Matekho, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of collective action in protecting the environment.

Anthony H, Second Officer-in-Charge of Tadubi Police Station spoke on the importance of preservation and sustainable resource management. Pavei Alexius Pou, Second Officer-in-Charge of Mao Police Station, B. Kaihrii, and Kapani Athisii were also present as special attendees, lending their support to the green initiative.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from the Tadubi Youth and Students’ Organization, Chakremei Students’ Union, Abo – Rikee Students’ Union, and Maopungdong Students’ Union and Esiiphi Education Centre
This community-driven initiative underscored the urgent need to address environmental issues through local action and reinforced the shared responsibility to restore and protect our natural world.
