SHILLONG, Nov 28: The upcoming Me’gong Festival 2025 in Tura is set to captivate global audiences as international music stars including pop-rock legend Richard Marx and world-famous electronic duo Yellow Claw headline the event scheduled for December 5–6. The announcement, made by the Meghalaya Tourism Department, signals the state’s growing ambition to position the Garo Hills as a major cultural and tourism destination.
Emerging as one of Meghalaya’s biggest annual festivals, Me’gong drew over 2.3 lakh visitors in 2024, attracting audiences from across India and abroad. Inspired by a flower native to the Garo Hills, the festival celebrates a vibrant fusion of tradition and modernity — blending global music with indigenous culture, community identity, and creative expression.
The two-day celebration will once again showcase the diversity of Garo heritage through band performances, fashion shows, local games, craft markets, bamboo artistry, and curated culinary experiences featuring Garo cuisine. The festival continues to embrace sustainability, implementing zero-waste operations and community-led waste management systems.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that Me’gong reflects Meghalaya’s broader vision of expanding its cultural economy, generating livelihood opportunities, and bringing worldwide attention to local traditions and talent. The event has increasingly become a platform that unites international performers with grassroots cultural expressions, enhancing the region’s cultural tourism footprint.
Festival schedules, ticketing details, and further updates will be shared on Meghalaya Tourism’s official website and social media platforms as the excitement builds toward the 2025 edition.
