Aizawl, August 14: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Wednesday said the state’s geographical closeness to the “Golden Triangle” — one of the world’s most notorious drug trafficking hubs — has made it highly vulnerable to the inflow of narcotics.
Speaking at the launch of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drugs Free India Campaign) in Aizawl, Lalduhoma stressed that this location poses a persistent threat, fuelling frequent drug smuggling incidents in the state. He urged communities to remain vigilant, united, and determined in safeguarding Mizo society from the dangers of substance abuse.
The CM appealed to youth to completely stay away from drugs, warning that even occasional use could be the first step towards addiction. He also encouraged those already trapped in drug dependency to take courageous steps towards rehabilitation and rebuilding their lives.
As part of the campaign, both Mizoram State Level and Aizawl District Level programmes were held in the capital, including a “Rally – Fight Against Drugs” that saw the participation of over 600 students from schools and colleges.
