Aizawl, August 20: In a major step toward accessible healthcare, Mizoram has installed its first health ATMs in Lunglei, enabling people to check vital health parameters without visiting a doctor. The kiosks were launched on Monday at Civil Hospital Lunglei and PHC Lungsen under the Healthy Lunglei Initiative.
Powered by Internet of Things (IoT) technology, the ATMs provide free testing for 35 health parameters, including blood pressure, sugar, BMI, and ECG. The results are delivered instantly to users’ mobile phones, creating a free digital health record for each individual.
Health Minister Lalrinpuii said the initiative will bridge the gap between rural and urban healthcare by making basic diagnostics easily available at the community level.
The project is supported by a tripartite MoU involving MVS India, the Lunglei DC’s office, and ABCI Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd., with CSR partners ABCI and BRN funding procurement and upkeep. MVS India will oversee installation, training, and technical support.
Authorities believe the innovation will significantly boost preventive healthcare and reduce the load on hospitals for primary diagnostic needs.
