NEW DELHI, July 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a grand and emotional welcome from the Indian community in Argentina upon his arrival at the Alvear Palace Hotel in Buenos Aires on Friday night, highlighting the deep cultural bonds that transcend geographical distance.
In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi expressed his gratitude, stating, “Distance is no barrier when it comes to cultural connect! Honoured by the gracious welcome from the Indian community in Buenos Aires. It is truly moving to see how, thousands of kilometres away from home, the spirit of India shines brightly through our Indian community.”
The atmosphere at the hotel was electric, with chants of “Modi-Modi,” “Jai Hind,” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” echoing as community members lined up to greet the Prime Minister. The reception included a vibrant classical Indian dance performance, celebrating the richness of Indian heritage. Many attendees had the opportunity to interact personally with the Prime Minister and receive autographs, adding a personal and memorable touch to the historic occasion.
PM Modi’s arrival in Argentina was marked by a ceremonial welcome at Ezeiza International Airport. His two-day visit is historic, being the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the South American nation in 57 years.
During his stay, PM Modi will pay homage at the statue of General Jose de San Martin, Argentina’s national hero, and is scheduled to hold detailed bilateral talks with President Javier Milei. The leaders will participate in a ceremonial reception, delegation-level discussions, and a luncheon hosted in PM Modi’s honour.
This visit is part of PM Modi’s ongoing five-nation tour aimed at strengthening India’s engagement with the Global South and exploring new avenues of cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and culture.
