IMPHAL, March 20: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Keisham Meghachandra Singh has welcomed the visit of six Supreme Court justices to Manipur. Speaking at Congress Bhavan on Thursday, he expressed his appreciation for the justices’ visit, urging them to closely observe the hardships faced by those residing in relief camps due to the ongoing violence in the state.

In the wake of the recent disappearance of college student L. Mukesh on March 16, 2025, Meghachandra called for an immediate cessation of violence in Manipur. He stressed that unlawful activities, such as the ongoing violence, would only hinder the restoration of peace and normalcy. Meghachandra reiterated the need for justice and urged authorities to take swift and decisive actions to ensure the safety and security of all citizens in the state.

At the same time, with the Bihar general elections expected to be held in October or November this year, along with other state elections, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has begun its election preparations. AICC has declared 2025 as the “Year of Organization” for the Congress Party, signaling a major reorganization effort aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots network ahead of the crucial polls.

Meghachandra announced today that 14 district presidents from Manipur will leave Imphal on March 27 to attend a key meeting convened by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi. The meeting is expected to focus on election strategies, organizational restructuring, and mobilization efforts to boost the party’s presence in Bihar and other states.
