DIMAPUR, June 14: In a significant development in the Dimapur airport land encroachment case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Nagaland Police has filed a chargesheet against 25 private individuals for their alleged involvement in illegal encroachment using forged and fabricated documents. The SIT is now awaiting prosecution sanction against six public servants from the Nagaland Personnel & Administrative Reforms (P&AR) Department and the Land Records Department.

According to an official police releaseon Saturday, the SIT began its investigation following directives from the state home department. The team conducted a preliminary enquiry into allegations of fraudulent land claims and illegal occupation around the Dimapur airport area. Upon establishing prima facie evidence of cognizable offences, a formal criminal case was registered at the State Crime Police Station in Kohima.
