Kohima, October 17: In a major crackdown on illegal liquor transportation, the Kohima Excise personnel stationed at the Khuzama inter-state check gate seized 500 cases of assorted Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) on Wednesday morning.
According to Venezolu Dawhuo, Deputy Commissioner of Excise, Kohima, the liquor was discovered concealed beneath bags of essential commodities in a truck bearing registration number NL-01AK-1796.
The driver, identified as Rashidul Islam (20) from Goalpara district, Assam, was immediately apprehended for violating the provisions of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, 1989.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the consignment was loaded from Dimapur and was en route to Imphal.
