KOHIMA, Feb 27: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has called for the establishment of an apex tribal court to ensure timely and cost-effective justice while preserving Naga traditions and customs. Speaking at the Angami Naga tribe’s Sekrenyi festival-cum-Mini Hornbill event at Kisama on Wednesday, Rio emphasized the importance of strengthening traditional governance systems to address internal disputes efficiently, without the need to rely on the modern judiciary.

Highlighting the unique cultural heritage and special constitutional protections afforded to Naga customs, Rio stated, “An apex tribal court will help resolve internal disputes efficiently, saving time and resources.” He further urged tribal bodies to collaborate with the state government in creating the proposed court, aiming to foster unity among the various Naga communities.
