KOHIMA, June 11: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has issued a strong appeal to AK Mishra, the Centre’s interlocutor for the Naga Peace Talks, urging him to ensure the immediate and sincere implementation of the long-pending Framework Agreement (FA) and Agreed Position (AP).
In a statement released Tuesday, the NPCC expressed deep concern over what it termed as the Government of India’s repeated failure to fulfill its commitments made to the Naga people. The party highlighted that the Framework Agreement with the NSCN-IM was signed nearly a decade ago, while the Agreed Position with the Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups (WC-NNPGs) was inked eight years ago. However, both accords remain unimplemented, causing frustration and disillusionment among the people.
Calling their statement a “fervent appeal,” the NPCC urged Mishra to take decisive action to honor the aspirations of the Naga people and ensure the delivery of a Final Political Settlement without further delay.
“The long-awaited Final Political Settlement must be delivered in honour of the aspirations of the Naga people,” the party reiterated, underscoring that peace, stability, and trust in democratic processes hinge on the Centre’s sincerity and commitment to the accords.
