Kohima, August 21: The Nagaland Government has urged the Zeliangrong Youth Organisation, Nagaland (ZYON), and the Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Nagaland (ZSUN), to call off their indefinite agitation in Peren district, assuring that the State is taking “active measures” to deliver justice in the Pimla murder case.

Nagaland Commissioner Gregory Thejawelie (IAS) said the Principal Sessions Judge, Dimapur, passed the cancellation order on August 20 in case No. G.R 152/2025 under Sections 103(1)/118(1)(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He also confirmed that the state police have sought urgent action from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Kamrup, Assam, to speed up the expert examination of evidence.

The government has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Peren to hold talks with civil society organisations (CSOs) and brief them on these developments, stressing that the administration is “sincerely pursuing the matter” to ensure justice is delivered at the earliest.

The agitation, launched on August 19, has shut down government offices and blocked National Highway-129A. ZYON president R John Zeliang said the protest would continue until the forensic report is released, warning that any attempt to violate the blockade would face “direct action.”
