DIMAPUR, Feb 8: In a significant political development in Nagaland, a group of National People’s Party (NPP) leaders, including Sudesh Bhagat, President of the Minority Department (State), and Jaser Meru, General Secretary (Org) of the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), along with 13 members, formally joined the Congress party at Congress Bhavan in Dimapur.
The induction ceremony was attended by key Congress leaders such as L Chuba Yimchunger, NPCC General Secretary in charge of Dimapur, Javed Sarwar, Chairman of the Minority Department, NPCC, and Kutoho Chishi, President of Dimapur DCC. The event was also graced by several other members of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), secretaries, and Congress workers.
A brief welcoming ceremony was conducted, presided over by Kumjimong, General Secretary of Dimapur DCC. Javed Sarwar extended a warm welcome to the new members, appreciating their previous political contributions and encouraging them to channel their efforts into strengthening the Congress party in Nagaland.
During the event, L Chuba Yimchunger, Sudesh Bhagat, Jaser Meru, and Hiketo Shohe addressed the gathering, expressing their perspectives on the political transition. Hiketo Shohe lauded the new members for their decision to join the Congress and expressed confidence in the collective efforts to fortify the party in the state.
