KOHIMA, Jan 28: Nagaland Police have revealed that the state has suffered a significant ₹8.8 crore loss in cyber financial fraud, with 943 complaints lodged through the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Management and Reporting System (CFCFRMS) helpline since its launch in February 2022. The helpline, which can be reached at 1930, has facilitated the freezing of ₹1.2 crore across 2,006 accounts in the past three years, helping to prevent further misuse of funds.
The CFCFRMS helpline has become a vital tool in combatting cyber financial crimes in the state, enabling victims to report fraud quickly and allowing authorities to freeze fraudulent accounts almost immediately. Citizens are urged to promptly report any incidents of cyber financial fraud by calling 1930, increasing the chances of recovering stolen funds. Additionally, the Nagaland Police have emphasized the importance of reporting cyber frauds to the nearest police station and advised the public to stay vigilant and educate themselves about the latest cybercrime methods.
As part of its ongoing efforts to tackle cybercrime, Nagaland Police conducted a Consultative Meeting on Cyber Crime Awareness in May 2024. The meeting underscored the importance of public education and social media influencers’ role in spreading awareness.
