DIMAPUR, May 15: In a tragic accident that occurred in the early hours of Thursday, a vehicle carrying four students veered off a bypass road in New Chümoukedima village and plunged nearly 500 meters down a cliff, killing two and critically injuring two others.
The incident reportedly happened around 12:30 a.m. Officials from the Chümoukedima traffic police later confirmed that all victims were students residing at KK Boys Hostel in Dimapur’s Duncan area.
The deceased were identified as Akamu N. Shohe from Zunheboto and Zayisito Zeliang from Peren, both sixth-semester students of Sakus Mission College, Dimapur.
The injured students were identified as Chingong Phom, also from Sakus Mission College, and Kihomong, an MA student at Unity College, Dimapur. Both were rushed to the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), where Chingong’s condition was reported as extremely critical.
