KOHIMA, July 17: Kelülü Dawhuo, the reigning Miss Universe Nagaland 2025, is all set to represent her state at the prestigious Miss Universe India 2025 national finals, scheduled to be held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Hailing from the Chakhesang Naga tribe, Kelülü will showcase her state’s cultural richness and resilience on the national stage. She will don a traditional costume titled ‘Goddess of Folk Song’, inspired by a legendary figure from her community, reflecting the spirit and heritage of Nagaland.
Speaking to reporters before her departure on Thursday, Kelülü expressed pride in representing Naga women. “Even after facing hardships, we have the strength to rise again and continue with life,” she said, highlighting the enduring spirit of her people.
Currently a second-year Bachelor of Arts student, Kelülü admitted that juggling academics and pageantry is no easy task. However, she credited the unwavering support of her family and mentors for giving her the confidence to pursue both paths with dedication.
Following in the footsteps of Ruofuozhano Whiso — who secured the fourth runner-up position in last year’s Miss Universe India contest — Kelülü acknowledged the expectations but remained undeterred. “I am not here to outshine anyone but to shine in my own light and bring laurels to our state,” she stated with quiet determination.
Beyond the runway, Kelülü is passionate about promoting education for the girl child, a cause she vows to continue championing actively after the competition. She also encouraged young women to pursue their dreams fearlessly, regardless of challenges.
