NEW DELHI, Nov 16: In one of its largest drug busts, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized a massive 900 crore rupees worth of cocaine in a major operation in Delhi. The operation, which is part of the government’s ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking, has led to the arrest of two key members of an international drug syndicate.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the investigation has revealed that the drug syndicate is operated by a group of individuals based abroad. Some of the seized cocaine was intended to be smuggled to Australia via courier or small cargo services. The ministry noted that the individuals involved are primarily hawala operators who maintain anonymity by using pseudo-names for daily communications related to drug dealing.
The NCB, in coordination with the Indian Navy and Gujarat Police’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), also carried out a joint operation earlier in the day along the Gujarat coast, busting another international drug trafficking cartel. During this operation, security agencies seized 700 kilograms of methamphetamine, marking a significant blow to illegal drug networks.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the NCB for its success, taking to social media to commend the agencies for their consecutive breakthroughs in tackling illegal drug trafficking. He reiterated that the government’s resolve to eliminate drug rackets is unwavering, vowing that the hunt against drug cartels will continue relentlessly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
