WASHINGTON, July 8: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has nominated U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his efforts in brokering a ceasefire between Iran and Israel. The nomination letter was presented to Trump during a dinner at the White House on Monday.

The meeting came just weeks after Trump helped facilitate an end to the 12-day Iran-Israel conflict that began on June 13. The White House praised Trump’s role, stating that the President was “forging peace” across multiple regions, and Netanyahu echoed the sentiment, calling the nomination “well-deserved.”

Netanyahu praised Trump’s leadership on the global stage, especially in the Middle East, for his pursuit of peace and security. He added that admiration for Trump extended beyond Israel, reaching Jewish communities and supporters worldwide.

Trump appeared surprised and grateful upon receiving the nomination. “This I did not know. Wow, thank you very much. Coming from you in particular, this is very meaningful,” he said.

During the White House dinner, Trump also acknowledged his longstanding friendship with Netanyahu and his wife Sara, calling them “friends of mine for a long time” and noting their shared record of success. He expressed confidence in continued cooperation between their governments.

The Nobel Peace Prize nomination adds a significant chapter to Trump’s foreign policy record, particularly in relation to the Middle East peace efforts.
