NEW DELHI, Feb 28: The government has introduced a new Aadhaar Governance Portal (http://swik.meity.gov.in) aimed at simplifying the approval process for Aadhaar authentication requests. Launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the platform is in line with the recent amendments to the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules, 2025, under the Aadhaar Act of 2016. These changes are intended to enhance governance, facilitate the delivery of welfare services, and improve overall service benefits for citizens.
According to the Ministry, the new portal is part of ongoing efforts to simplify processes, improve service delivery, and elevate the ease of living for citizens. S. Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY, emphasized that the platform will expedite the inclusion of new use cases in governance, improving accessibility to essential services. Bhuvnesh Kumar, CEO of UIDAI, also underscored Aadhaar’s critical role in supporting India’s digital economy and advancing resident-centric governance.
The new Aadhaar Governance Portal aims to simplify the process for government and private entities seeking Aadhaar authentication approval by offering clear, step-by-step guidance to ensure seamless onboarding. Both public and private organizations can now leverage Aadhaar authentication for various public services such as innovation, knowledge sharing, and improving access to critical services. This development will help citizens more easily access services across sectors like healthcare, education, e-commerce, and hospitality. Service providers will also benefit from Aadhaar authentication for processes like staff attendance, customer onboarding, and e-KYC verification.
Furthermore, the portal provides a detailed guide to assist entities in applying for Aadhaar authentication and integrating it seamlessly. Additionally, it is expected that face authentication may be integrated into customer-facing apps, offering an easy, anytime authentication process.
