SENAPATI, Feb 28: A new path to overseas employment has opened for local youth with the launch of the Hillside Training and Placement Centre (HTPC) at Sha Complex, Senapati. The centre has been set up in partnership with Delhi-based Furusawa Language Academy LLP to prepare candidates for jobs in Japan.
The inaugural programme, held in collaboration with Mount Everest College, was attended by Ms M. Sheveine, MCS (SDO/BDO Paomata), as Chief Guest, and Dr V. Alexander Pao, President of Mount Everest College, along with faculty members and students. The event began with a prayer by Rev. Th. Liavikho Rosii and a welcome address by Mr Kh. Phoshu.
HTPC Director Bonny Zho said the initiative was born out of the difficulties faced by many young people in Senapati who seek work abroad. The centre will roll out the Technical Intern Training Programme (TITP) and the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) scheme, starting with 45 students in the first batch. Apart from Japanese language training, the centre has assured full placement support. It is also in talks with banks and exploring government support to ease financial pressure on students.
Abhinav, representing the Director of Furusawa Language Academy, said the collaboration aims to shape disciplined and culturally aware professionals ready for the Japanese workforce.
In her address, Ms Sheveine spoke about the growing need for skilled workers in Japan and the steady ties between India and Japan. She underlined the importance of language skills and respect for culture for those seeking employment overseas, and assured her support to the centre’s efforts.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Mr Lah, HR Counsellor at HTPC, followed by a closing prayer by Mr SP Simeon, Chaplain of Mount Everest College.
