GUWAHATI, Dec 2: To enhance passenger comfort with clean and hygienic bedrolls, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has launched a state-of-the-art laundry care facility in Guwahati. The new tunnel-based system utilizes modern technology to produce high-quality linen, capable of handling up to 32,000 bedrolls per day. The products processed include bedrolls, blankets, and pillow covers, ensuring that passengers can travel with comfort and hygiene.
Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR, stated that the new facility optimizes resources such as water, power, steam, and chemicals, efficiently managing large volumes of linen. The automated system ensures smooth transitions between cleaning stages while maintaining superior quality standards.
In a similar development, North Western Railway (NWR) has installed a modern linen washing plant in Jaipur, which has a daily capacity of 56 tonnes. Captain Shashi Kiran, the Chief Public Relations Officer of NWR, emphasized that all linens are processed according to high-quality standards before being provided to passengers. Furthermore, plans are underway to expand the facility to meet increasing demand.
Indian Railways officials have also reiterated that all linens used in AC sleeper classes will be processed in mechanized laundries with the latest available technology. These advancements reflect Indian Railways’ commitment to cleanliness and improving the overall travel experience for passengers.
