IMPHAL, Aug 2: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made significant progress in the investigation of the 2024 Jiribam murder case by arresting another key accused from Mizoram. The arrest pertains to the abduction and brutal killing of three women and three children in the Borebekra area of Manipur’s Jiribam district on November 11 last year.
According to officials, the NIA apprehended Lalrosang Hmar alias Rosang, a resident of Moinathol village and Dilkhosh Grant of Cachar, Assam, from Aizawl on Thursday. The arrests were confirmed on Friday through an official statement issued by the agency.
The development follows the earlier arrest of Thanglienlal Hmar, another accused in the case, by a joint team of the NIA and Assam Police, also from Aizawl. The agency described both Lalrosang and Thanglienlal as active conspirators in the heinous crime.
During the operation, a mobile phone and a SIM card were recovered from Lalrosang. Investigators are currently examining the digital evidence as part of the ongoing probe into the chilling murder case.
