Kohima, October 22: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed its “deep concern” over the reported incident that occurred on October 20, along the Indo–Myanmar border near Longwa village, where Indian security forces are said to have carried out an operation targeting the residence of a senior NSCN-K (YA) leader in Khammoi village, Myanmar.
According to reports, several individuals lost their lives, including members of the leader’s family, while others sustained serious injuries, the NPF said in a statement. The NPF also said it was saddened by the loss of lives and the distress caused to the affected families and communities.
Given the sensitivity of the border region and its close-knit human ties across both sides, such incidents call for careful examination to prevent further tension or misunderstanding, the NPF stated.
The NPF then urged the authorities concerned to take due cognizance of the situation and to ensure that peace, stability, and humanitarian considerations are upheld at all times.
