Shillong, September 16: National People’s Party (NPP) president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday formally welcomed Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze, former Lok Sabha MP from Outer Manipur, into the party at a function held at the NPP headquarters in Shillong.
Addressing the gathering, Conrad Sangma said Dr. Lorho’s entry would further strengthen the NPP’s mission of uniting the voices of the North East. “Dr. Lorho brings to the party his experience, wisdom, and strong support base from Manipur. He is a soft-spoken, honest, and transparent leader widely accepted across communities in the state. We are confident he will play a key role in furthering our vision of One Voice, One North East,” he stated.

Highlighting the party’s journey, the NPP chief recalled the vision of its late founder Purno Agitok Sangma, who wanted the NPP to serve as a platform for the aspirations of the people of the North East. “Today, the party has expanded across the entire region, gaining trust among diverse communities. This is truly a moment for the NPP to celebrate and to work together to raise people’s concerns unitedly,” he added.
Expressing gratitude to the NPP leadership, Dr. Lorho pledged to work for greater inclusivity in the region. “We, as indigenous communities, must work together to ensure that the party becomes a platform for all. The vision of late P.A. Sangma remains an inspiration, and I look forward to reaching out to more communities while upholding truth and honesty,” he said.

The ceremony was attended by NPP National Working President James K. Sangma, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister and State President Prestone Tynsong, senior party members, ministers from Meghalaya, MLAs from Manipur, State Working President Sheikh Noorul Hassan, and Panmei Janghemlung.
