SENAPATI, Feb 26: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has issued a statement accusing the Assam Rifles (AR) of colluding with Kuki militants and applauding the efforts of the Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) in safeguarding Naga areas. The NSCN-IM praised the SDSA for its vigilance and courage, noting that the students have been instrumental in keeping the region safe from suspicious activities, particularly in light of the Assam Rifles’ alleged actions.
The statement commended the SDSA for its responsibility in staying alert to movements within Naga jurisdiction and ensuring that anti-Naga elements, particularly those linked with the Assam Rifles, are kept at bay. “SDSA exercises their duty-bound responsibility by being vigilant and courageous in the face of suspicious movement within the Naga jurisdiction. Such work at odd hours is quite exemplary, staying alert and making the Naga areas safer from intrusion by anti-Naga elements in collusion with the ubiquitous Assam Rifles (AR),” the NSCN-IM said.
The NSCN-IM further highlighted SDSA’s proactive role in reporting suspicious activities, noting that they are quick to expose the truth. The statement also acknowledged the SDSA’s bravery in confronting the Assam Rifles’ Director General, calling them out for a perceived lack of integrity. “They did the right job daring to question the Assam Rifles’ Director General and demean him for his lack of integrity,” the NSCN statement remarked.
These comments come in the wake of an incident on February 22, 2025, when the Assam Rifles were allegedly caught escorting Kuki National Front (P) militants led by General Secretary Aron Kipgen. The NSCN-IM labeled the act as another example of the Assam Rifles’ unethical conduct and accused them of collusion with the Kuki militants. “What happened in the dark night of February 22, 2025, when Assam Rifles were caught on the wrong foot escorting Kuki militant group, Kuki National Front (P) led by General Secretary Aron Kipgen, is just another incident that AR were caught red-handed for their unethical conduct,” the NSCN stated.
The NSCN also voiced longstanding concerns about the Assam Rifles’ alleged ties with Kuki militants, claiming the Assam Rifles has earned notoriety for supporting the group. The statement accused the AR of assisting the Kuki militants with logistics and materials, fueling the insurgency. “AR has gained the notoriety for their unholy nexus with the Kuki militants, assisting them in every possible way, logistics and materials,” it read.
The NSCN-IM raised alarms about the deaths of Kuki militants from Manipur in Myanmar, questioning the role of the Assam Rifles in facilitating cross-border activities. “One interesting development of serious nature is, why so many Kuki militants from Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and other parts of Manipur continue to die in Myanmar as KNA(B) cadres, even in Kachin land?” the statement queried. “The irony is, all these are taking place right under the nose of the Assam Rifles that provide them all types of ammunitions to the Kuki militants and facilitating them to cross the border to reach the battlefields.”
The NSCN concluded its statement by reiterating its concerns over the Assam Rifles’ involvement with the Kuki National Army (B), suggesting that the AR is facilitating the transportation of illegal Kuki immigrants and supporting KNA(B) operations.
