Dimapur, October 16 (NNN): The NSCN-IM has issued a rejoinder today in response to the press statement by the All Manipur Vegetables Wholesaler Association Trust (AMVWAT) on October 14, 2025 “in some newspapers and visual media alleging that, there is a syndicate of tomato at Imphal by NSCN-IM which is totally false and fabricated”.
Regarding the reported stoppage of tomato vehicles, the NSCN-IM clarified that one Hussain Ali and his associates have been deliberately ignoring and not extending co-operation towards “our appeal for clearing his liabilities”. The NSCN-IM then said, “The fact of syndicate is Mr. Hussain Ali, he himself is running the tomato syndicate, because 90% of tomatoes going to Imphal from Assam and Dimapur, is controlled by him thereby monopolising the market of tomato”. The NSCN-IM further said it had also interacted with some of the AMVWAT members in the past regarding this menace.
“We advise the AMVWAT to verify the ground reality and facts before going to the press”, the NSCN-IM cautioned.
