Dimapur, August 4: Marking the 10th anniversary of the historic Framework Agreement (FA) signed with the Government of India on August 3, 2015, the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has reiterated its unwavering commitment to Naga sovereignty and cautioned against efforts to dilute the accord’s political significance.

Addressing a commemorative event on Sunday, NSCN (IM) chairman Q Tuccu hailed the FA as a “milestone” in the Indo-Naga peace process and described it as the Indian government’s recognition of the Nagas’ sovereign rights. He stressed that the agreement continues to guide the path toward a final political settlement.

“It was on this day that a milestone was achieved… in reclaiming the Nagas’ rightful place with sovereign rights as a nation,” Tuccu declared, while also acknowledging delays in the peace process. He accused the Government of India of intentionally stalling progress under “various pretexts” and reaffirmed the NSCN’s resolve to defend the “sanctity” of the FA.

In a sharp attack on the Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), Tuccu warned that partnering with groups promoting a settlement within the Indian Constitution was a “dangerous proposition.” He alleged that the NNPGs were operating under the influence of Indian agencies and had compromised the core ideals of the Naga movement.

Calling the “Agreed Position” signed by the NNPGs a “deceitful pact,” Tuccu claimed the group was created to undermine the NSCN’s “bona fide leadership.” He maintained that the NSCN would not share a platform with groups that, in his view, failed to defend the uniqueness of Naga history during negotiations with New Delhi.

Tuccu concluded with a call for unity and dedication among Nagas to uphold the legacy of the Framework Agreement. “Let us accept our bounden duty to defend the sanctity of the Framework Agreement at any cost,” he urged.
