DIMAPUR, Nov 5: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) has categorically denied reports circulating on digital media regarding the alleged promotion and appointment of Maj. General Honreishang Shadang, MSM, MC, as the new Longvibu (Chief) of the Naga Army.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the NSCN (IM) expressed deep displeasure over what it termed as the “sensationalisation of unverified news” by certain online outlets. The organisation clarified that the false reports stemmed from “elements spreading misinformation” about a supposed order from the Yaruiwo (Chairman) promoting Maj. General Honreishang Shadang to Lieutenant General and naming him as successor to General Anthony Ningkhan.
“The decision concerning the Naga Army leadership was a collective one taken by the organisation’s competent authority in accordance with the Naga Army Rules and Regulations,” the statement emphasized. It further asserted that no unilateral decision is applied in such high-profile appointments, and there exists no power struggle within the Naga Army leadership.
The NSCN (IM) cautioned digital media platforms against amplifying “concocted information” designed to mislead the public and destabilize the organisation. “Such fabricated reports should not be magnified to serve vested interests,” it said, reaffirming that the group remains united and guided by its established procedures and principles.
