KOHIMA, Nov 20: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) held a coordination meeting with the Angami Public Organization (APO) and its frontal bodies on Wednesday at APO Oking, Kohima, as part of its ongoing campaign to strengthen the enforcement of the Inner Line Regulation (ILR) and address the increasing influx of illegal immigrants into the Naga homeland.

According to the NSF, the meeting opened with a welcome address from APO President Theja-o Vihienuo, who stressed the collective responsibility of safeguarding indigenous identity, security, and demographic balance. K Andrew Yhome, Member of the Inner Line Regulation Committee (ILRC), provided an overview of the ILR campaign objectives and chaired the session.

NSF President Mteisuding highlighted persisting shortcomings in the implementation of the Inner Line Pass (ILP) system, calling stronger regulation a historical and moral duty to protect Naga rights and land. ILRC Chairman NSN Lotha delivered a detailed presentation urging the Nagaland Government to act on NSF’s recommendations, particularly the establishment of ILP checkpoints at Dimapur Airport and Dimapur Railway Station—key entry points for non-indigenous visitors.

APO President informed the gathering that the organisation has set up a Core Committee on ILP to address related issues more systematically. He underlined the need for youth empowerment and sustainable livelihood avenues to reduce reliance on migrant labour, which he said contributes to the growing influx.
