The double Olympic medallist spoke candidly about the challenges and rewards of an athletic career, noting the short professional span in most sports, but also the deep fulfilment it brings. “The respect a sportsperson receives is beyond words,” she said, adding that the sacrifices made by athletes and their families are repaid through moments of victory and recognition.
