Imphal, July 16: The Media Resource Centre, Manipur in collaboration with State Climate Change Cell, Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Manipur organised a one-day joint interaction programme for the 6th Media Fellowship Programme (2025-26) on “Climate Change Reporting in Manipur” on Tuesday at the conference hall of Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Government of Manipur in Porompat.
The joint interaction aimed to build the capacity of media fellow recipients and intending applicants working on climate change reporting, especially journalists who are primarily working on different issues in the hill districts of the state. The programme aimed to equip journalists with better understanding of climate science, techniques for evidence-based storytelling, and the use of simple and accessible language to communicate climate facts to the public.
The programme was attended by Dr T Brajakumar Singh, Director, Directorate of Environment & Climate Change; Dr N Sanamacha, Development Officer and staffs of the Directorate of Environment & Climate Change.
Discussions during the interaction programme focused on pressing climate issues such as scientific reporting, community-based adaptation strategies, political advocacy, and the evolving role of media in shaping public opinion and policy discourse around climatic challenges.
Participants included awardees of the 6th Media Fellowship Programme, Ukhrul District Working Journalists Association, Senapati District Journalists, Tamenglong District Journalists, Churachandpur District Journalists, All India Radio (AIR) Imphal, Lai Kaidong U Team, Coordinator of the Media Resource Centre, and Expert Members from the Media Resource Centre.
