NEW DELHI, May 7: In a historic show of military precision and coordination, the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force launched a tri-services strike—codenamed “Operation Sindoor”—targeting nine terror hubs across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) at 1:44 a.m. on May 7. The operation was carried out in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed multiple innocent lives.

More than 70 terrorists were killed and over 60 injured in the coordinated missile strikes. The nine high-value terror targets included Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bahawalpur, Rawalakot, Chakswari, Bhimber, Neelum Valley, Jhelum, and Chakwal—locations long linked to terrorist activity and infrastructure.

According to the Government of India, Operation Sindoor was a “measured, non-escalatory, proportionate, and responsible” response to Pakistan’s continued support for cross-border terrorism. In a briefing on Wednesday morning, officials reiterated that the strikes were aimed at terrorist infrastructure alone and that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted.

“The operation was guided by credible intelligence input and focused on dismantling terrorist infrastructure and disabling terrorists,” said Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri at the press conference. He emphasized that India has the right to respond to and pre-empt acts of terrorism emanating from across the border.

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi of the Indian Army and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the Indian Air Force also addressed the press, providing key details about the operation and confirming the link between the selected targets and Pakistan-based terror outfits. They outlined the long-standing threats posed by these groups to Indian national security and civilian lives.

Through the precisely executed missile strikes, India delivered a strong message: it will no longer tolerate cross-border terrorism or the complicity of state-backed institutions that support such actions.

Sources confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi closely monitored the overnight operation. In a statement, the government said, “Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and method of execution. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held responsible.”
