Gangaikonda Cholapuram, July 27, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday declared that Operation Sindoor had demonstrated India’s decisive strength and unwavering stance in defending its sovereignty, stating that the military offensive sent a clear message that “there is no safe haven for enemies and terrorists” targeting the nation.
Speaking at an event commemorating the birth anniversary of Chola emperor Rajendra Chola-I, Modi said the operation has sparked a “new self-confidence” and national awakening. “The world saw how India responds when its security and sovereignty are threatened,” the PM said to thunderous applause. “Operation Sindoor has become a symbol of our strength and resolve.”
The Prime Minister made the remarks during the Aadi Thiruvathirai festival at Gangaikonda Cholapuram, held in honour of the legendary Chola king. During his address, he also emphasized the enduring pride India holds in the Chola dynasty, highlighting their contributions to governance, culture, and democracy.
Modi announced that grand statues of Raja Raja Chola and Rajendra Chola-I would be erected in Tamil Nadu, describing them as “modern pillars of our historic awakening.” He also drew attention to the Kudavolai system—a democratic practice of the Chola era—asserting that it predates the UK’s Magna Carta and serves as early evidence of India’s democratic traditions.
The event saw enthusiastic public participation, with locals turning Modi’s 3–4 km drive into an impromptu roadshow, many chanting slogans in praise of Operation Sindoor.
