SENAPATI, May 13: In a bold initiative to foster patriotism, resilience, and leadership among youth, the Mountaineering Club of P.P. Christian English High School, Lairouching, in collaboration with the 16 Assam Rifles, successfully conducted a powerful three-day adventure and mountaineering camp titled “Mountains and Valour: A Maiden Step Toward Nation-Building” from May 8 to 10.
Held in the rugged wilderness of Ndoi-Kavanam, the camp challenged over 80 students and school staff with intensive survival drills, dynamic team-building exercises, and a strenuous 26-kilometre trek to the Mao Potato Farm via the historic Maram Khullen village. The expedition was spearheaded by Shri Nathanael Doibipa and closely guided by Principal Ng. Joseph, who championed the concept of real-world learning outside the confines of the classroom.
A defining moment of the camp occurred on the second day when Captain Rohit Sharma, RMO of 16 Assam Rifles, hoisted the Tiranga at the campsite—an emotional highlight that deeply stirred patriotic sentiments among the young participants. He subsequently flagged off the challenging trek through dense forested highlands, testing both the physical endurance and mental strength of the students.
The closing day featured an inspiring address by Lieutenant Colonel Siddharth Samant, 2IC of 16 Assam Rifles. Speaking to the campers, he asserted, “Discipline and courage are the pillars of nation-building.” His message resonated strongly, encouraging many students to envision themselves as future leaders committed to national service.
“This was more than an outdoor camp—it was a journey of identity, purpose, and unity,” said expedition leader Nathanael Doibipa. “We designed it to ignite the spirit of nationalism and show that real strength lies in solidarity.”
To enrich the learning experience, creative segments such as storytelling and drawing contests were also incorporated to nurture confidence and communication skills. Principal Ng. Joseph reiterated the school’s mission, stating, “The jungle teaches lessons no classroom can—courage, adaptability, and self-reliance.”
The school extended heartfelt thanks to Colonel Sandeep Sharma, Commandant of the 16 Assam Rifles, for providing critical logistical support and unwavering moral encouragement. School authorities hailed the initiative as a model collaboration between educational and defence institutions in shaping future-ready, responsible citizens.
