Patna, September 17: The Patna High Court on Wednesday directed the Bihar Congress to remove from all social media platforms an AI-generated video featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, Heeraben Modi, after expressing strong displeasure over its circulation.

A bench headed by Acting Chief Justice P.B. Bajantri ordered the immediate removal of the video, terming it “unacceptable” in political discourse. The video, posted on X by the Bihar Congress, depicted PM Modi’s mother appearing in his dreams and conversing with him — a portrayal that triggered a storm of criticism.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its NDA allies condemned the video, calling it disrespectful and an affront to political dignity. BJP leaders welcomed the High Court’s intervention, describing the order as a “slap on the Congress.”

The development comes as a setback for the Congress ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. The party has not yet issued an official statement in response to the court’s order.

The controversy follows another recent flashpoint in Bihar politics when a video from the Grand Alliance’s Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga went viral. In it, a man from the Mahagathbandhan stage was heard using abusive language against Prime Minister Modi and his late mother. The remarks drew sharp criticism from the BJP, which demanded a public apology from Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.

NDA constituents also denounced the comments, accusing opposition leaders of crossing all boundaries of decency and indulging in “cheap politics.” Protests erupted across several districts, with BJP workers burning effigies of opposition leaders and staging demonstrations.
