Ukhrul, September 11: In a major setback for the BJP in Manipur, office bearers of the 43-Phungyar BJP Mandal and various Morchas under the Manipur Pradesh unit have collectively resigned from the party’s primary membership with immediate effect.
The mass resignation was announced on Thursday through a press release signed by 13 office bearers, led by Ngachonmi Ramshang, Special Invitee, BJP Manipur Pradesh, along with several senior active members and primary members.
The resigning members include the 43-Phungyar Mandal president and his colleague, Mahila Morcha president and colleague, Yuva Morcha president and colleague, Kishan Morcha president and colleague, ST Morcha executive, and as many as 53 booth presidents.
Explaining the reasons behind their decision, the members cited deep concerns over the present state of affairs within the BJP, highlighting “a lack of consultation, inclusiveness, and respect for grassroots leadership” as the primary factors.
“Our loyalty to the party and its ideology has always been unwavering. However, we express our disappointment with the current state of functioning and reaffirm our commitment to work for the welfare of our community and the people of Manipur,” the statement read.
