IMPHAL, Mar 1: Central Forces apprehended an active cadre of the proscribed People’s Liberation Army (PLA) along the Manipur-Myanmar border near the Chassad police station in Kamjong district on Friday.
The arrested individual, identified as Saikhom Mahesh Singh (23), was taken into custody by Assam Rifles (AR) troopers during a flash operation. Singh was attempting to cross from Myanmar into Manipur when he was apprehended in the general area of Kultuh village, located near the Indo-Myanmar Border 114 & 115 under Chassad-PS, Kamjong District.
Officials confirmed that the PLA cadre was found in possession of a 9mm live round pistol, a Chinese grenade, a radio set, and a mobile phone. The authorities acted on intelligence gathered from across the border, which led to maintaining a high alert in the region.
Following the arrest, Singh and the seized items were handed over to the Manipur police for further legal proceedings.
