PM Internship Scheme Round 2 Opens with Over One Lakh Opportunities for Indian Youth

NEW DELHI, Feb 20: The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) is once again open for its second round, offering more than one lakh internship opportunities across India, according to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA). The scheme follows the success of Round 1, which saw over six lakh applications. Round 2 is now open for applications, targeting individuals aged 21 to 24 who are not currently enrolled in full-time academic programs or employment, providing them with a valuable opportunity to kick-start their careers.

Interns under the scheme will receive monthly financial assistance of Rs 5,000, along with a one-time payment of Rs 6,000. Over 300 top companies from diverse sectors such as Oil, Gas, and Energy; Banking and Financial Services; Travel and Hospitality; Automotive; Metals & Mining; Manufacturing & Industrial; and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) are participating, offering internships to help youth gain real-world experience, build professional networks, and boost employability.

Eligible candidates can explore and apply for internships in more than 730 districts across India, selecting opportunities based on their preferred district, state, sector, and area, with a customizable radius from their current location. Applicants are allowed to apply for up to three internships until the application deadline.

To further promote the scheme, over 70 Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) events are being held in districts with the highest number of opportunities, targeting institutions such as colleges, universities, ITIs, and Rozgar Melas. Additionally, national-level digital campaigns are underway across multiple platforms, with influencers raising awareness among the youth.

The PM Internship Scheme, designed to harness India’s youthful workforce, offers 12-month paid internships combining training and professional experience. These internships ensure that participants learn while applying their skills in real-world settings, enhancing their chances of success in the competitive job market.
